132 Business Talent (Significant business history & venture capital)
Significant Business History Stream
Criteria:
• Meet the Department of Immigration and Border Protection criteria for a Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa – Significant Business History stream.
• Enter into a legally binding agreement with an actively operating ACT registered business to:
• invest at least $2 million into an ACT business or investment opportunity. The business proposal must be of economic benefit to the ACT; and
• create three jobs in Canberra for Australian citizens and/or permanent residents.
• Make a personal commitment, and have sufficient personal funds, to settle in Canberra upon grant of the Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa – Significant Business History stream.
Sign a declaration acknowledging the ACT nomination obligations as the holder of a Business Talent (Permanent) (subclass 132) visa.
Venture capital stream
Criteria:
• Secured at least AUD1 million in funding for a high-value business idea
• Entered into an enforceable agreement with an Australian venture capital firm for the funding
You must follow the terms of your venture capital agreement after you enter Australia.
The venture capital firm must be a member of the Australian Investment Council (AIC) (formally known as the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL)). The category of membership must be that of Venture Capital Membership.
Funding must be for:
• business development or expansion of a business in Australia
• the commercialisation of a product in Australia
• early phase start-up of a business in Australia
